PGA, DP World and Asian Tours alliance reshapes LIV Golf landscape

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour have entered a new global partnership with the Asian Tour, a move that changes the competitive map for men’s professional golf. The agreement includes new opportunities for Asian Tour players and comes after the Asian circuit had previously been linked closely with LIV Golf.

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour were already operating under a strategic alliance, and that arrangement is now set to run until at least 2029. Through the expanded partnership, leading golfers in Asia are expected to gain routes toward DP World Tour playing rights from the 2027 season, while some events will again be co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and Asian Tour.

Rory McIlroy publicly backed the development, framing cooperation between tours as a positive step for the international game. Officials from the Asian Tour, DP World Tour and PGA Tour also presented the deal as a way to broaden opportunities for players, fans and commercial partners in Asia.

For LIV Golf, the timing is awkward. The Asian Tour had been part of LIV’s wider ecosystem, including routes into LIV events, and the BBC report says LIV is also seeking new investment after earlier Saudi backing was withdrawn.
